Manage and Sort Your Email Account With an Email Filtering System
Written by Famery Johnnie
There is a reason most email accounts come with a separate spam folder. It is not unusual for businesses to send out mass email notifications to people whose emails they somehow managed to obtain. This can get rather annoying because it means having to sort out dozens of useless emails and discarding them. In some cases, these emails can also be dangerous because it may try to get you to download a virus disguised as a harmless looking file. Others may also contain a link that takes you to a phishing site.
It is even more important to protect your email account especially if you use it for business and communicating with your clients and business partners. Most people use email as the primary method of client interaction because it allows them to keep track of messages and the day and time they were sent. For businesses, it is recommended that companies have some sort of email filtering system for all the staff and faculty members with a business email account.
So what exactly is an email filtering service and what is the benefit of having one? Some services can categorize your incoming email into several different categories. Instead of just having an inbox and spam folder, the system will create several different labels that your emails will be placed under. This may include a section for incoming newsletters sent from a merchant and another section for emails sent directly to you from a third party. This helps you sort out and go through your messages according to what's important and the ones that can wait or be deleted. Email filtering services may also include little widgets on the side, which may indicate the length of time logged on or number of emails received for the day.
Email filtering services provide security and help prevent your email account from being compromised. Some may be able to detect email containing potentially harmful material. It can warn you if an email contains suspicious content. It is not unusual for hackers to send email with viruses that can monitor your activity online and steal your information. This is something that people with a business email especially has to watch out for.
A compromised email can disturb the communication between you and your clients, which can hurt you and your company's credibility. Viruses can also be sent to a specific email in an attempt to steal important business information, such as proposals and project campaigns. It is not unusual for a malware of such nature to be sent by a competing company or business partner with an ulterior motive.
Most people receive dozens of email notifications on a daily basis. Some are personal messages from family and friends while others may be business related. There are many more that are useless email from random businesses that are trying to get you to buy their latest product. An email filtering system can clear inbox folders by shuttling such mail into a separate folder for spam and other junk messages.
