Introduction: Masik Karthigai is a special monthly festival, greatly admired by Tamil people. According to the Tamil calendar, it is a religious observance of the eminent festivity. It is a festival of lights, gleams and brightness all around, celebrated monthly to worship and praise Lord Shiva for his benovelence and grace upon the human race. When does Masik Karthigai fall? “Masik Karthigai Deepam” got its name from Nakshatra Karthigai or Krittika. When Pleiades and Pou ami (Pooran Maasi) are at the same time, and the constellation is visible as a group of six stars in the cosmic universe which looks like a pendant from/on the ear.
