Some of the tissues we have in our body are soft and are susceptible to damages. Some of the best ways to mend damaged soft tissues is by massage.

People who have never had a massage are uncertain about it. They get anxious thinking about it. Usually they ask some question like: "Must I take all my clothes off?" "Should I chat to the masseur?" These are commonplace questions that require answers.

The first thing you need to do is find a masseur in your vicinity. You can ask for recommendations from other people, or you can check out the various massage parlours in your neighbourhood. When you have located a massage parlour the next thing to do is to have a chat with the masseur.

You will be requested to give some important personal information about your health and your existing health worries. You see, they need this information to evaluate your state of health in order to decide what methods to use and which ones not to use. This is vital to safeguard your well-being.

Masseurs have a preference of working with people who have taken their clothes off. This is because it is easier for them to work on the various parts of the body without any hindrance from clothing. Nevertheless, if you're uncomfortable in that kind of situation, you can tell your masseur about it. Remember, you will not be expected to bare your whole body because you will have a towel for cover you. If you still feel uncomfortable with just having a towel over you, and you still want to wear clothes then make sure that you wear loose-fitting clothing so that the masseur can still work easily on any troublesome body part.

The most frequently applied oils are lavender, and tea tree oil. The reason why masseurs favour these oils is because they reduce irritations and swellings. These oils also soothe and permeate the nerve endings which will results in pain relief.

Once all the elementary stuff is sorted then you just lie down on the massage table. There will be times when you will be requested to move so that the masseur can more easily get to the part being massaged. One thing to remember is that you are free, to exchange conversation with the masseur at any time if you want to, especially if you are put into a position you find uncomfortable.
