Massage of the joints
Written by James Smith
Rigid and raised joints can be cured by massage combined with mechanical movements. However, massage is not recommended in severe inflammatory cases in the joints and in the tubercular joints. It should also be avoided by infectious diseases such as diphtheria and gonorrhea, which cause pus formation as massage can spread pus to the entire system.
Sprains and bruises can be cured by massage. In these cases, the affected parts should first be bathed with warm water for 15 to 30 minutes. Then, the massage should be performed for a few minutes. Gentle ironing and kneading are recommended on and around the wounded tissue. Fractures can also be treated through massage.
This type of massage is of great help in the atrophy of the muscles which usually follow ifrnmuscles are not used for any length of time. This condition can also be created byrninjuries, joint disease, inflammation of the muscles and nerves and excessive use ofrncats, bandages and splinters.
A human carries half of the weight of his body in the form of muscle tissue.
A quarter of the blood supply circulates in the muscles. When getting a good massagerntreatment, the muscles are regenerated and are then able to hold half the blood supply.
Thus, massage provides additional nourishment for feeding the muscle tissues, which helps them torngrow strong. Tapping, striking and vibrating helps the muscle develop its contractile force.
Muscle massage is brought at the first effleurage, kneading, followed by tapotement. Later active
and passive movements are given.
