For example, they consider the nchronic late payer barely teetering on the edge of nbankruptcy to be their "best" customer, while those nwho pay off their debts are "deadbeats." I understand Scurlock's bewilderment, and his documentary ncertainly sets off an alarm, but a more useful question might nhave been... "Given that there are proven, practical methods for getting out nof debt, why are so many people still in debt?" He could then spotlight the growing number of familiesnwho've come to their financial senses and started executingna time tested debt-freedom plan. He could also compare the lives of the debt addicted to the ndebt-freedom addicted. The difference being a debt addiction neventually ends in ruin, and a debt-freedom addiction puts you nsolidly on the path to financial independence. Maxed Out is a laudable effort. Warnings are good. nBut, hey, if you're already on fire, warning you not to nplay with matches won't put the fire out. Get out of debt today. Start a new addiction.
