Migraine Symptoms and Its Remedies

Most people mistake migraine for headache, but if the disease is identified at the right time by symptoms it can be completely cured. Migraine causes headaches with different intensity of pain which may vary from time to time. There are so many causes for migraine which includes stress, foods, exposure to stimuli, increased intake of caffeine, hormonal changes, environmental changes, etc. There are four common phases in migraine symptoms and the first phase is Prodromal Phase. It is difficult to spot migraine during the initial phase as they just feel drowsy without any other symptoms and it may progress or get advanced to the next stage with the sufferer feeling hard to find the disease during initial phase. They may also have craving for sweet along with depression which may be mistaken for other disease.
Second stage of migraine is Aura phase as the stage name says the victims will encounters symptoms like visual aura or optical illusion. Optical illusion or zigzag lines along with blindspot will appear. Moreover the victim will also encounter other symptoms like tingling sensation on either arms or hands. Migraine affected person will feel difficult to lead a normal life and the patient feel these symptoms almost half an hour before headache. They may also have other symptoms including hallucination and strange tastes.
Next is the headache phase and most of the victim does not have the migraine symptoms of headache phase. They have palpitation along with dizziness and the pain starts from the back of the head and goes around the temple or eye socket. It causes severe pain and the patient becomes more sensitive to light. Nausea and vomiting may also be accompanied after it and the duration of symptoms vary from minutes to hours.
There are many over the counter medications for migraine but they cause unwanted side effects. By sleeping in a calm atmosphere symptoms get alleviated and the patient can get complete relief. There are few home treatments that reduce the symptoms of headaches, herbs like feverfew and butterbur are effective home remedies for migraine. Studies on these remedy has shown that they are free from side effects and effective in providing relief from migraine.
Dehydration is also one of the causes of migraine and intake of more water hydrates the body and reduces the symptoms associated with migraine. Head massage with essential oils is also proved too effective from relieving the headache.
