All of us feel sorry for ourselves from time to time but to stay in a state of self-pity is not healthy. It's not healthy for you, your family, your friends, or anyone else you associate with.

I'm not saying that I don't want you to feel your feelings. But I don't want you to stay so low in your thoughts that they consume your life in a negative way.

Thoughts are very powerful. They can condemn you, enrage you, hold you captive and literally destroy your life, IF you allow them to.

You have a choice. You do have a say in the matter or should I say you have a thought in the matter.

You can choose what thoughts you think. You can choose how you allow thoughts to make you feel. You can even choose how thought makes you react.

Yes you do have that much power over your thoughts.

Here's how you use mind over matter to live a positive and uplifting life.

Keep an inner eye on your thoughts and literally throw out the ones that cause you to feel negative, hateful, painful, shameful, regretful or pitiful.

They are not serving you or anyone else. The way you throw them out is by recognizing them for what they are - thoughts. And thoughts can be thrown out, replaced or simply ignored.

But if you want to get rid of self-pitying thoughts for good then begin to feed your mind continuously with thoughts of joy, love, compassion, honesty, truth, forgiveness, patience and humility.

How? By choosing what you put into your mind in the first place. You don't have to read, watch or listen to all the negativity that is going on around you. You can choose to tune it out and replace it with a more positive and healthy experience.

It's that simple. Feed your mind continuously with quotes, books, articles, videos, etc., that inspire you to become a better more genuinely happy person.

It's all under your control. Use that self-control that you have to live a more joyous, adventurous and exciting life.
