Mobile notary advertising: the good and the bad
Written by Abbu Umair
As mobile notaries public, we all wish we could make our phone sound like it was a few years ago. At the time, there was not much advertising to do for our phone to ring. Today is a very different story.
Since the REFI boom ended, there has been less work and more mobile notaries than ever. Phones are no longer ringing and we are no longer rejecting work. In fact, some of us are desperate for it.
Many mobile notaries public are turning to advertising as a way to make their phone ring and their businesses continue. From notary search sites to yellow pages to PPC search engine marketing, each advertising channel has different advantages and disadvantages.
Notary search sites
For a mobile notary, a notary list is a very effective way to show your name to people looking for a notary public. These sites work by offering people seeking a notary public the ability to search for notaries within a specific ZIP code. Once the person begins a search, they receive a list of names to select from, and then the contact information is provided to the notary.
Pros: Callers from the site really need a notary. Some sites are free to advertise.
Disadvantages: Most mobile notaries are on these sites, making it difficult to stand out from the crowd. The actual number of people using these sites to search for a notary can be very low.
Yellow page advertising
For a mobile, advertising on the yellow page can be very effective. Think about how you use your local yellow pages when searching for something. If you are like most people, when you look in the yellow pages you are ready to buy. You are not looking in the local phone book for a taxi company just to gather more information or check prices. No, you need a taxi. And it's the same with a mobile notary service, people looking in the local yellow pages for a notary public need a notary public, maybe even a mobile notary public, and it's likely that if they have an ad, they'll get a call.
Advantages: low cost. People who use the local yellow pages are looking to buy.
Disadvantages: You cannot change your ad once it is published. In markets where there are many other notaries public or mobile notaries, it can be difficult to stand out.
PPC Search Engine Marketing
PPC is the common term used for what is known as pay per click advertising or pay per performance advertising. Here's how it works: Search engines like Google and Yahoo offer you ads for specific keywords or phrases like "mobile notary" and you agree to pay a fee for each time someone clicks on your ad. This form of advertising is very popular and effective. You are in control to set your daily or monthly budget so that you never spend too much on your advertising, however to be effective you will need a website for your mobile notary service.
Advantages: Helps control advertising costs. Control of keywords or key phrases in real time. It will only be seen when people are searching for your key words or phrases.
Disadvantages: Certain keywords can be very expensive. You open yourself to click fraud.
When looking for new ways to advertise your mobile notary service, keep in mind your commitment to the advertiser. While some companies do not require term commitments, others will want annual or multi-year commitments. Never sign an agreement without reviewing the terms and conditions you will agree to, and make sure you have a solid understanding of what to expect from your advertising. https://www.gcmmobilenotary.com/
