Today, almost one in seven people in the world has a Smartphone, and most of those smart phones have internet connectivity. Hence it has become very easy to track the mobile phones. Now there would be many reasons why people would want to track anybody’s phone. Some husbands might want to do it to verify their wife’s location or vice versa, while some friends just want to keep track of their buddies for fun. Be it any reason, there are a number of mobile applications, software and websites which can aid you in your endeavor. In addition to the already available large number of such applications, many more of them are cropping up daily.

UI (User Interface). The most interesting feature of this app is that you don’t need a GPS enabled device to be able to use this. Just a Smartphone with Google Latitude installed in it is enough. Using this app, you can track your friends to a specific radius depending on the nearness of the mobile towers around that location. You have to add friends to be able to track them and the other side has to confirm the request. Thus, this addition of social element increases the engrossment of the user which has made this app quite successful.

Along with Google Latitude, there are several applications which allow you to track your own mobile phone if it is lost. These applications enable you to track down the phone and recover it in case of any such mishap. These applications can track the particular phone in two ways. They track it either by the GPS located in the device itself or else through the mobile number. But again, these methods have their own limitations.

First of all, if the device’s GPS is switched off, it becomes difficult to track it by that method. Obviously, there are workarounds (read hacks) for this, but they are not known to many people. Also, if the mobile device is switched off or the miscreant removes the battery and/or the sim card from it, it is becomes almost next to impossible to track it down.

Thus, although the number of free software and mobile websites has made it easy to track and locate your mobile phone, there are ways by which it is able to avoid it as well.
