Mussoorie is a beautiful hill station in the District of Dehradun of the state Uttarakhand. Mussoorie is located almost 35km away from the city of Dehradun. It is nestled in the foothills of the Himalayan Range. Mussoorie has been famous since colonial years of India. This is one of the most visited and admired hill stations in the country. Dense forests of deodars and cedars cover the slopes around Mussoorie. The Mussoorie hill town is often known as the “Queen of the Hills”. this colonial hill station is still the favoured vacation destination for everyone from honeymooners to families. Mussoorie offers tourist attractions of all kinds. Natural and man-made places to visit in this city are abundant. Mussoorie is also known as the gateway to the “Gangotri and “Yamunotri” shrines. Famous places to visit in Mussoorie are Kempty falls-It is surrounded by high mountain ranges. This falls is situated at an altitude of approximately 1,364m above sea level. This is one of the must visit spot in Mussoorie. Lal Tibba- This is the highest peak in Mussoorie. It is at a altitude of over 2,290m above sea level. This place provides some amazing and never seen before views of the mountains that house the holy shrines of Keda
ath and Badrinath. Happy Valley- It is situated at a short distance from the mall road. This is the place where Tibetans first arrived in India when they fled from Lhasa in the year 1959, It was led by their spiritual leader dalai lama before he moved to Dharamsala. Mussoorie Lake-It is located at 6km on the Mussoorie-Dehradun road. this lake was recently developed as a picnic spot by the city board and the Mussoorie Dehradun Development authority. Jwalaji Temple-It is located at a distance of around 9km west from Mussoorie town. It is present at a Hill top at an altitude of 2,240m above sea level. The Mall- It is famously known as the Mall road- It is a total shopper’s delight with everything in the same location. This place is like the lifeline of Mussoorie with almost everything located on this very stretch. Christ church, Gun Hill, Camel’s Back Road, Kempty Falls and much more. Mussoorie is best visited between the month of mid-March to mid-November.
