My Asian family saw my lack of color

People like saying how it doesn’t matter who you date… That race is absolutely insignificant. That everyone should spread their wings of love and date whoever they want. We so much want to believe that true love is color blind. Which is a good thing because it begins to show just how much majority of us are open to interracial dating and advocate in the acceptance of all races. See, I have been very open to Asian men white women relationships. Problem is: when I got into one, I wasn’t the one with the issue… it was my Asian man’s side of family that had a problem with me being white. See, I am not the only one who had to go through this. Most people in Asian men white women interracial relationships have faced discrimination from families of the men and women they happened to fall in love with. For example, when it comes to white men dating Asian women, some Asian families sometimes feel it is hard to find a white mate who won’t fetishize their women. Others worry about ‘outsiders’ fixating about their culture. So I was quite worried about whether my Asian family was gonna accept me and my lack of color. Were they going to be disappointed? What I didn’t expect was my new family’s insistence on how I should value and respect their culture. So I had to wonder if all white partners in Asian men white women relationships have to be told this. But I figured, I love this guy and everything he is. So why wont I value his culture? It’s the fair thing to do given how much he loves and respects my free American self. Plus we all come from different realities … like it or not. I am American born and bred, He is Asian born but raised in America. But for some reason our families see interracial dating differently. Well, I can’t just ignore their concerns about my intentions with their son as mere prejudice. Neither can I blame them for their every mention of me being white. What really I really love is that my man fully prepared me for this. In fact he told me in my face, “My family might not like you.” But he stands by me through it all. And he tells them he will always love my white self because I am who I am because my white parents raised me well. So for all in Asian men white women relationships, get a man who stands by you despite your lack of skin color.
