Mycoplasma vs Chlamydia -- Two Different Pathogens

What is the difference between mycoplasma and chlamydia?

Mycoplasma is a smaller pathogen than chlamydia and can cause pneumonia in addition to genital tract infections. And chlamydia, in addition to those infections, can also cause trachoma, pelvic inflammatory disease and other diseases.

Mycoplasma is the smallest prokaryote that can live independently. Among pathogenic microorganisms, mycoplasma and chlamydia are smaller than bacteria but larger than viruses. In other words, mycoplasma and chlamydia are microorganisms that lie between bacteria and viruses.

Chlamydia can be spread by sexual contact, and when it enters the reproductive tract, it prefers to grow and multiply inside cells in the mucous membrane.
