Hemorrhoids are the vascular structures that develop in the canal of the anal. They can be internal or extrenal.Internal hemorrhoids are painless but rectal bleeding occurs but in case of external hemorrhoids there is pain in the area of the anus.If the hemorrhoids become inflamed or swollen then they are better known as piles. The hemorrhoid can be prevented easily if you are cautious enough. The first thing is that you should not have constipation. You should have rich fiber diet and drink lot of water as this will help your digestive system to work properly and you have regular bowel movement.

The treatment of hemorrhoids includes increasing the fiber intake and fluid intake, sitz baths and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Surgery is required if the problem is not in control and no recovery is taking place through medications.

There are also many kind of topical creams are available for the treatment of hemroids. Before applying these gels or creams one should know that if that cream is having steroid then that should be discontinued use after 14 days as it harms the skin and thinning of the skin starts. Petroleum jelly or zinc oxide can be applied as they reduce itching and are safe to use.

In addition to above following treatments are available to cure hemorrhoids:

Rubber band ligation is a technique in which elastic bands are used on the hemorrhoid which is placed 1 cm above the dentate line so that the supply of blood goes off. After this the hemorrhoid falls within 6-7 days. Dentate line is the line which divides the upper and the lower canal of the anus.

Sclerotherapy is a therapy in which sclerosing agent like phenol involves the injection of a sclerosing agent, like carbonic acid or phenic acid is injected into the hemoroid.By doing this the hemorrhoid shrinks or gets dried because the walls of the veins collapse.

Some cautery (burning) methods are used for the treatment of hemoroids. The cautery can be done using electrocautery. Electro cauterization is the process in which a tissue is destroyed by using heat conduction from a metal that is heated by electric current. Infrared radiation or laser can also be used for this.

Hemorrhoidectomy means the excision of the hemorrhoid surgically. This is done only in severe cases of hemoroids. It causes lot of pain and takes around a month for recovery.

Another type of surgery like Hemorrhoidectomy is stapled Hemorrhoidectomy in which the removal of the enlarged hemorrhoid is done and other hemorrhoid are kept back to there normal anatomic postion. This is less painful as compared to Hemorrhoidectomy and gives faster healing.

Doppler can also be used in the treatment of hemroids.Ultrasound Doppler is used to locate the arterial inflow of blood. The arteries then tied off and the lapsed tissue is put back to its anatomic normal position. This is also less painful tha
Hemorrhoidectomy.

Some natural remedies for hemorrhoid are:

You can apply ice on the affected area.

Use chemical free soaps.

Have hot fomentations for 20 minutes.

Have bed rest if pain is there.

So prevent yourself from hemorrhoids and get well soon if you have.
