Being the capital of such a dynamic country, New Delhi attracts thousands of visitors every year. Not surprisingly, the NCR is peppered with hotels, motels, guest houses etc. of varying proportions to accommodate the budget, requirement and convenience of one and all. You see a number of medium to small scale New Delhi hotels sprouting up in every nook and corner of the city. Since the weather of the city isn’t much to write home about, New Delhi hotels have to make up for overall guest satisfaction by providing exemplary services. The question is… are they doing that? The answer is… sadly, no! Online travel forums are abuzz with negative feedbacks about hotels in India, and New Delhi in particular. International tourists have often complained about staff misbehaving or hygiene issues when staying in hotels in New Delhi. The problem is that apart from the top 5-6 hotel chains of the country, most hotels are incapable of providing essential facilities and services. For a country like ours, which has no dearth of tourist attractions, indifference to the guests’ various requests and the consequent negative publicity may inflict a lot of damage on our Tourism prospects. As is widely known, we generate a lot of foreign exchange through the tourism industry. Is it not our obligation then to ensure we provide the very best of staff and services to our guests, regardless whether they are international or local? But, it’s not all downhill. New Delhi hotels are slowly waking up to the significance of ensuring a pleasant stay to all their guests. The flag bearers in this revolution of sorts are the country’s premier hotel chains such as ITC, The Lalit, The Oberoi and some others for whom quality has always been a benchmark not to be compromised with. One of the main reasons that these hotels have enjoyed loyal patronage over the decades is that they have been right up there with the quality of services they render to their guests. Following their footsteps, a number of New Delhi hotels have come up with novel initiatives to please their guests. From providing dedicated concierges and persona butlers to arranging for airport transfers and affording gift vouchers at local shopping centers; the hospitality industry is, indeed, undergoing a major facelift, even if it’s only virtually. This holds especially true for Delhi hotels, which have already prepared their own checklists of must-haves and have beefed up their security to ensure a safe and comfortable stay for their guests. Even small hotels with a considerably smaller room count insist on hiring only trained and skilled staff having excellent communication skills for the benefit of their guests. Providing ample parking space is yet another aspect where New Delhi hotels have made remarkable progress. Most hotels provide valet parking and have sizable parking lots, thus saving a lot of trouble for their patrons.
