New Wonders Of Nature Chosen By People Of The World

The Canadian-Swiss enthusiast Bernard Weber, initiated action under the banner New 7 Wonders of World Foundation, in 2001 at Zurich, Switzerland, to finalize New 7 Wonders of World on the basis of global opinion poll. This initiative was originally supported by United Nations Economic Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), but the later withdrew its participation in this project, since it observed some technical deficiencies in the manner of choosing the finalists. The New 7 Wonders of World foundation announced on 07-07-07 the monuments which are New 7 Wonders of World as follows: 1.Chichen Itza, Yucatan, Mexicorn2.Christ the Redeemer, Rio de Janeiro, Brazilrn3.Collosseum, Rome, Italyrn4.Great Wall of China, Beijingrn5.Machu Picchu, Cuzco Region, Perurn6.Petra, Ma’an Governorate, Jordanrn7.Taj Mahal, Agra, India The Giza Pyramid of Egypt, which was in the Wonder of the Ancient World was also granted a honorary site. In 2007, the project on the New 7 Wonders of the World of Nature was taken up and the foundation received 440 nomination from 220 countries. However 20 wonders of Nature were short listed for polling throughout the Globe to select 7 Wonders of World out of them. In the meantime, two countries dissented on the basis of additional fee charged by the Foundation, which they considered unfair. The following New 7 Wonders of the World of Nature were provisionally announced by the foundation on 11-11-11, 11 O Clock and the correctness and validity of polling are on verification process now to confirm the finalists. 1.Amazon Rainforest, South Americarn2.Halong Bay, Vietnamrn3.Igauzu Falls, Argentina/Bazilrn4.Jeju Island, South Korearn5.Komodo National Park, Indonesiarn6.Puerto Princesa Subterranean River, Philippinesrn7.Table Mountain, South Africa Some controversies have been highlighted in the project of New 7 Wonders of World. First, it was the method of polling in which one can vote for more than once to boost the number. Next issue was on the fee levied by the foundation on the participating nations. There have been judicious methods adopted in polling, such as only 10% of the voting from the participating nation in respect of their nomination would be taken into account and remaining 90% will be from the global polling. However, there are questions still to be addressed to accept the verdict as fair and proper. In the meantime, the New 7 Wonders of World team is proceeding with their programme on the New 7 Wonders of the World Cities.
