Nursing Jobs As A Career Option

A nursing job is a tough one. A nurse when on duty has to stand part of the time, and always has to be on her feet to check patients, administer them the medication prescribed, check the IV fluids, and if in Intensive Care, this check has to be performed continuously. In the CCU (Cardiac Care Unit), the work and tension is most intense.

It is surprising that they perform these duties with a smile on their face, and do talk to the patient, asking about the well being, and acting more often than not, as surrogate family member. No matter what sophisticated equipment one may have in the clinic, hospital, or tertiary treatment centres; the effect of the healing touch or a human voice is immeasurable. Nursing jobs are crucial, no matter what technology the system has.

On top of that, they are responsible for maintaining the patient’s charts for the physician or surgeon. That adds a tremendous load on them. So far, nurses were generally not considered indispensable, and received salaries not fully compensating them physically or mentally. To be at the receiving end every day from patients and physicians takes a toll of them mentally. However, in recent years, there has been a dramatic change. With the expansion of health facilities in most parts of the world, nursing jobs are receiving salaries which they deserve.The vista for nursing jobs has become wide open, and not restricted to their nearby towns or cities. With so many airlines and so many destinations now available, and with mobiles, and computers with VOIP and face-to-face communication made possible, home is now just a few hours away.
