OLAP Server – The Data Access Facilitator

The OLAP tools help the users in analyzing the different dimension of the multi-dimensional data. The examples are time-series and the trend analysis, which can be viewed by the users. OLAP is used in the data mining. The OLAP Server acts as a facilitator between the client and the DBMS (database management system). OLAP server is intelligent enough to know how the data organization in a database and with the used of its special functions, it is able to analyze huge data in a different dimensional way, which helps the corporate houses immensely in understanding the business trend and vital decision making. The server design and its data structure are optimized for quick and ad hoc report retrieval in many orientations. It also helps fast and flexible transformation and calculation of the raw data which is based on the formulaic relationship. OLAP Server may stage the process multi dimensional information physically to the end-users, or it can also populate the data structure in real time from the relational database or any other type of databases. With the latest state of the information technology and the increasing requirements by the end users for a consistent & rapid response, the use of OLAP server in staging the multi dimensional data is always a preferred method.
