Some individual in the aforementioned country would register with an online dating site post a fake profile and lure someone into a web relationship with the sole purpose of separating them from their money. It worked very well.

While a lot of people do not go to that extreme they are in the habit of exaggerating the details of their life in regards to dating online. Some do it out of pure vanity and others because they are insecure. There are a myriad of excuses of course but the bottom line is it is best in all instances to just tell the plain old truth. Your dating companion has fallen head over heels for this wonderful person who shares the same taste in movies, food, mountain climbing and verses of some obscure poet.

But that person does not exist. Your taste in food is totally different from what you put down. You don’t do the mountain climbing thing and you wouldn’t know that poet of their work even if they came to your house and recited a few verses. This extends all the way to the photo you used on your profile page. Is it you? Yes. Unfortunately it’s the you of twelve years ago. This is obviously going to be a problem.

Now your online dating companion is all excited and after a few more chats is ready to meet you in the real world. At this point it is blatantly obvious they are going to be in for a huge disappointment. You might be able to fake it on some of the things you listed but that picture of you from a decade ago is not one of them. Don’t be surprised if they read you the riot act on their way to cutting this date short.

Starting out relationship based on lies for whatever reason is like building a hose on sand. It may look good to start but in the end it’s going to sink under it’s own weight. It also signals that there is no trust involved which in essence will doom any relationship from the get go.

It’s hard to maintain self-respect when you are blatantly practicing a falsehood. The other person has been completely open about who they are. And you? Not so much. You may be able to deal with it but chances are your conscience is not feeling to good right now.

Imagine that you have been completely honest and forthcoming about who you are including your personal style and taste. Your dating companion appeared to do the same thing. But in the end you found out it was all a lie. Everything they said was only meant to trick you. It is only normal that you be hurt angry and extremely disappointed. That’s how the other person will feel if they find out you are not on the level.
