Pain is Temporary
Written by Jamie Klein
Pain is only temporary. Sometimes it’s necessary to allow yourself to cry and feel the pain you’ve been running from. After all, you’re still feeling it on the surface. It’s like a cut, you have to go through the temporary pain of cleaning it properly so that it can heal. Yes, there may be a scar to remind you of what was there, but it doesn’t actually hurt anymore. You can run from your feelings, but they’ll catch up to you.
I have a history of stuffing my emotions so far down, I don’t even fully understand what exactly it is that I’m feeling. Other people pay the price because my anger and pent up emotions come out sideways. When I know I need to let go of some pain, I listen to customized playlists because music seems to stir up emotions that I’ve buried. Once I’ve had a good cry, I’ll turn it around by finding something that makes me laugh. Otherwise, I can stay in that dark place. Once I’ve cried, then laughed, I feel so much better. A weight is lifted from my shoulders. Try it.
