Panch Prayag is consists of five shrines where the merger of sacred rivers takes place. As per legend, when River Ganges descended the earth then Lord Shiva in order to withstand her immense force divided the Ganges into various streams. The confluence of these streams happens at five different places i.e. Vishnuprayag, Nandaprayag, Karnaprayag, Rudraprayag & Devprayag. At Devprayag, River Ganges emerges after the confluence of all rivers. All the Prayag are en-route to Badrinath. All the pilgrims pay their homage at these revered places whilst they visit Badrinath Dham. Along with their religious importance, these places are endowed with heavenly natural beauty also.
