There are many of us concerned of what is happening at these times we live. We are seeing eruptions, wars being started, dangerous pests roaming around the world, the global warming, uncontrollable weathers and unusually fierce weather phenomena in normally calm areas etc. it’s like Pandora’s box has been opened and all the terrible infestations and evil and bad things told about in the legends are coming about at this time. But we do need to remember one thing, the last thing that came out of Pandora’s Box, was hope.
No matter how frightening and unsure the future is or what we as human kind are to go through in the near future; we need to remind ourselves that there is a purpose to all this and that in the end the only thing we got to help us through it all, is hope.
We also need to remember, not to allow fear to terrify us into doing irrational things, as we do not understand the whole picture. Sometimes we need to just pause for a second and breathe in. That way we get the time we need to see things as they are and do not allow fear to take control and guide us into chaos and mistakes.
Now we are witnessing eruptions on a greater scale than before for the past centuries in Iceland and we understand that there are happenings in the earth’s crust pointing to even greater events or even catastrophes for this small island.
But that does not mean for us to give up and just let things happen. We need to prepare and know and understand different scenarios and how they affect us. When we do, we are better capable to deal with them and we have a better understanding of how to defend and protect ourselves.
The same goes for the terrible Ebola around the world. We need to get as much information about it and how to protect ourselves without losing our balance and allowing panic to take over. It’s also important not to panic in such a way as to stop doing business in countries that suffer from Ebola, as that weakens their infrastructure and makes them even more vulnerable than the already are. This increased vulnerability can also lead to even worse catastrophes, than the initial disease itself.
Wars are also something that we need to really look hard at and ask ourselves if there is a way to circumvent some of them by negotiations, speaking to people and showing respect to those we are dealing with, in spite of us not always agreeing. The more we communicate with one another the greater possibility we have to overcome the danger of war. For most human beings a war is the last resort, how come that we have allowed it to go so far as to seriously contemplate that solution? Could it be foolhardiness or simply arrogance?
Let’s remember that we are all cousins.
We need one another to live through the great change of the global warming.
Let us look at those areas and/or countries that are experiencing higher rate of criminality (like piracy off the coast of Somalia, like the kidnapped schoolgirls in Nigeria, like the Opium production in Afghanistan, etc.) and try to see the problem through the eyes of the local people living there. If we get fortunate enough to understand the core problem of that particular area and get to address it we could find out that it could be drought, difficulties in getting crop to market, difficulties in getting education, difficulties in getting health care, difficulties in getting chosen religion accepted or problems with narrow-mindedness or even judging views of others.
Maybe we could get fortunate enough to hear and understand what the people living there need in order to be able to sustain themselves for the future and solve their problem themselves locally. The imbalance in their area affects the whole world, so we are all in the same boat. But we can never impose a solution onto one another, the solution needs to come from within and then the outside can help making it into a reality. We are all masters of our own destiny.
As long as we do not allow ourselves to lose our sights of hope and the humanitarian side of our being we will be able to go through any ordeal there is in front of us. That also means that we do not judge others that at certain moments believe themselves to be doing good deeds for the many, just to realize that they are following an illusion. Let us also remember the poor people who are families of those that have done such mistakes as they do not know better or understand that they have been misused.
We need to stand together and remember that we all share the same dream, although we feel we know the “correct way” to reach it. We need to speak with one another and listen to what is being said and understand in the way it’s meant to be understood.
We need to land the airplane safely, in spite of its difficulty, just like captain Sullenberger and his crew on the Hudson River in New York.
We can use the opportunity of adversity to grow as a race and make our world better.
Agustina Thorgilsson, an expert in industrial psychology, began her career in 1979 as a consultant for internal affairs, communication and human resources development (HRD) with AB Volvo in Sweden. In 1988 she became the director for the Institute of Management Training, a division set up by the Ministry of Finance servicing all of Iceland’s public sector. She later founded a management training company that advised both public and private sectors on strategy, management and HRD issues, before completing a Masters degree in clinical psychology which led to the founding of Life-Navigation in 2005. Agustina’s vision is to help making the world a better place by showing people how to transcend even the most difficult life-experiences individuals can possibly encounter and move towards peace as a race. She had learned to use her intuition, insights and little used old knowledge known to man. By tapping into this endless reservoir of information and understanding clinical psychology, the evolution of the Life-Navigation System began. Agustina’s successes have shown that Life-Navigation makes an enormous difference. www.lifenavigation.com
