There are a few key steps and considerations before simply converting your data. Understand the data and its use in the legacy system as well as Sx.e. Understanding how it WAS used and how it is GOING to be used will help you correctly map the data between the source and target systems. What about data clean-up? Have you thought about how you will handle duplicate customers, products or vendors? How about consistency? Is the data you're converting meet your internal standards, ie naming convention, format? Don't forget, "Garbage In, Garbage Out". We'll go over some of these key questions and considerations.
