Working out of this brain concussion from being hit by the car is a very challenging experience. I have always had great confidence in my strong, bright, quick mind and really have taken my brain for granted all of my life. I have a completely different perspective on life after this event. I was leaning on my husband’s arm fighting the dizziness heading for our car taking slow tentative steps when we saw the elevator was out. The tears streamed down my face as my heart began to sink. My heart raced as I realized Jim couldn’t get me to the car, I wasn’t going anywhere. Not only totally dependent on others but totally dependent, as a handicapped person, on elevators, bars to hold onto and a brain moving slow these days. This morning I was angry that my brain wasn’t fully healed already. It has been three weeks since the accident on Wednesday, tomorrow. But this teaches me life is life. If I could have been healed in a week or two, I may have just run by this experience and put it on the shelve like a finished book I had read. This is a soul experience that won’t be rushed or manipulated. Today, trapped on the fifth floor with no elevator teaches me of the tons of people who live this way every day. Yes, oh yes, my perspective of life has changed. I will now almost bow with reverent respect to all handicapped and challenged people
