pH Balance

It's a fact that without drugs and medicine many of us may not be alive today, and so we can happily say, "thank God for modern medicine." However, many health experts now agree that the long term use of drugs leads to health complications later in life. Research is now showing that a holistic natural approach to health is far more beneficial, and may even add years to the average life expectancy.

Did you know that vibrant health and energy begins with pH balance? Our bodies are alkaline by design, but acid by function. For optimal health and cellular function our bodies need to stay alkaline. Chronic acidity in your body disrupts cellular activity and interferes with life itself. If your body becomes acidic (this is common) you may experience low energy, fatigue, excess weight, poor digestion, aches and pains, and even more serious disorders.

When your body is overly burdened trying to compensate for bad pH balance it suffers immensely. This excess stress leads to toxicity and illness, which in turn provides an environment for deadly micro forms such as anaerobic bacteria, yeasts, and fungi. These living micro organisms steal your nutrients by feeding on them and create even more toxins as a result. These toxins can be potentially very dangerous to your health.

The good news is this condition can be reversed by proper diet and supplements. This includes eliminating acid forming foods, such as processed sugar, processed carbohydrates, over eating meat, dairy, and excess alcohol consumption.

Are you unbalanced?

You can find out your pH balance by using pHydrion litmus paper, which turns color when it comes into contact with saliva. For greatest accuracy, take the test immediately upon wakening. Rinse your mouth with fresh water, wait about 2-3 minutes then place the litmus strip on the tongue for about 3-5 seconds. The pH test strip will turn color according to your ph levels.

Keep in mind when testing ph that readings can be affected by foods and liquids you have consumed, as well as stress factors, and vigorous exercise. To offset this, test several times during the week and take the average.

What the studies say

Raising your pH increases the immune system's ability to kill bacteria. Viruses and bacteria that cause brochitis thrive in an acidic environment, like wise these same pathogens die in an alkaline environment.

Taking an alkaline mixture of sodium bicarbonate and potassium bicarbonate will help fight respiratory infection and dampen symptoms such as runny nose and sore throat.

Alkalines protect against osteoporosis. When the body becomes very acid, it releases buffering minerals into the blood stream in an attempt to raise pH. One such mineral is calcium that the body takes from the bones. Over a period of time this leads to a loss of bone mass and eventually osteoporosis. Researchers gave post menopausal women alkalizing potassium bicarbonate and found that the subjects mineral loss from bone decreased, and the rate of bone formation increased. (The New England journal of medicine)

An alkaline diet can improve the symtoms of rheumatoid arthritis, and lowers the risk of kidney stones by making uric acid more soluble. ( Journal of the Ditetic Association)

If you are acidic, it is recommended that you take immediate action to correct this condition. The longer you delay the greater the acidification, toxicity, and illness.
