Vitiligo is a chronic skin disease that causes de pigmentation of skin. The pigment that determines the color of body, hair and eye. Common areas of the skin that lose pigment are face, hand leg, arm and genital areas. In this area white spot are developed. Frequently this white spot will spread. While the exact cause of Vitiligo is not known, Immunological attack on melanocyte is the main reason for Vitiligo. As a result, skin starts losing its pigment, and white patches appears on the skin. Sometimes this disease condition may be the reason for mental depression. Recent studies shows that around 0.5 to 1 percentage of world population were suffering from this disease condition. Common type of Vitiligo is called Vitiligo vulgaris. Vitiligo are mainly classified in to two groups, localized and generalized. Focal Vitiligo, segmental Vitiligo and mucosal Vitiligo are come under localized group. Acrofacial, vulgaries, mixed and complete or universal are come under the generalized category. Therapies for Vitiligo: Re pigmentation of skin with melanocyte is the primary goal in therapy. Photo chemotherapy, homeopathic treatment, Topical Oxsoralen treatment, Ayurvedic Treatment, Skin Surgical Grafting are the major therapies for Vitiligo.rnAyurvedic treatment is very effective for Vitiligo. The herbal local applications and decoctions balances the three doshas (vatta, kapha, and pitta)in the body, It helps the production of melanin. Pigmento is a skin re pigmentation herbal medicine, which helps to stimulate the production melanin in the body. Psoralea corylifolia (Babchi), vacha acorus calamus katuki picrorhiza kurroa, Piper longum (Pippali), Lawsonia Inermis, Swertia Chirata are the main ingredients in pigmento Psoralea corylifolia (Babchi) is the main ingredient in the pigmento. Babchi is an herbaceous plant. Its flowers are yellow or purple color. The seed in Babchi are anthelmintic, aphrodisiac, astringent, stimulant and stomachic. This seed is used in the treatment of lower back pain and frequent urination. The powered seeds are applied peripherally to cure all type skin problems, including Vitiligo. rnvacha acorus calamus is the another important ingredient in pigmento. Acorus calamus is the botanical name of vacha acorus calamus. It is a brain tonic. This medicine will help to regulate the kapha and vatta. Vacca acorus calamus is also used to improve skin color. The power of vacca acourus calmus and sandal is a good face pack, which helps to regain the skin color and reduce acne. katuki picrorhiza kurroa herb commonly seen in high range areas, at the elevation of 2800 to 4500 meters. Dried rhizomes are used to prepare medicines. It is most commonly used for the therapy of epidemic jaundice. Picrorhiza kurroa is laxative and liver-stimulant, it have the power to reduce skin dis-orders. Piper longum (Pippali) is very common in India and Sreelanka. It is the perennial aromatic shrub . Pippali alleviates anorexia and it is used for the treatment of splenomegaly. It is useful for treatment of all skin problems. rnLawsonia Inermis (Madayantika) is the herb used for the treatment of several disease. It alleviate kapha and pitta dosha. Traditionally Lawsonia inermis is used to coloring the hands in special occasions. The medicinal property of Lawsonia Inermis useful for the treatment of skin diseases and burning sensation of skin. Swertia Chirata is ayurvedic herb. Seed of the Swertia Chirata have medicinal property. The plant is an excellent drug for skin diseases.
