Crete is a naturally beautiful island located in the southern part of Greece. Up to this date, this island is one of the most popular tourist attractions not only in the entire country or the European continent but also in the whole world. This island is not only ideal for holiday tours but also a great spot for backpackers, adventure seekers and lovers of nature. The ancient tourist spots, historical sites, mountain villages and breathtaking beaches are the attractions of this island that keeps on inviting tourists. No wonder why this island is a must-see and a must-visit destination around the globe.
Natural Creations
The wildlife from plants to trees and beaches to landforms are what this island has to boast. You can find a lot of different fresh herbs, healthy vegetables and juicy fruits. You do not need to worry about mouth-watering foods as the local dishes here can satisfy your cravings.
The Towns
Crete may be a small island but it has plenty of beautiful towns for tourists like you to visit. You can start with Heraklion which is the largest city of the island. It is also the capital city of the island with interesting establishments from international airport to luxurious hotels, fancy restaurants to archeological sites as well as beaches.
The second largest city located in this island is Chania. This town also offers a lot of remarkable places for visitors to see. Aside from the clear, water of the beaches, there are Venetian fortresses, ancient commercial buildings, modern spa centers, cafes and more.
The next town from the west is Rethymnon or Rethymno. Most of the buildings and sites you can see here define the history, culture and tradition of Crete. Overall, it is a great town you have to visit once you take a holiday tour in Greek, particularly in this island.
Another town is Agios Nikolaos which is situated in Lasithi. It is a good place for tourists to see as it offers beaches, lakes, museums and villages. There is also an airport in Agios Nikolaos so the access to stay here is not difficult.
Friendly Citizens
The people of the island of Crete are known for their hospitality, friendliness and warm attitude in welcoming visitors. You can surely feel at home when you stay in any of the towns and coastal areas of the island. The language is not an issue as many of them can speak the universal language which is English. It won’t be really difficult to make communication with the local people here anytime you need help, interaction or inquiry.
