Poncho: One of the biggest versatile and feminine trend today
Written by Steve jo
Ponchos were originally a coarse hand-loom cloth, radiant in color, worn in the early cultures of Latin America. They were also designed as rain gear, made of a waterproof material and often found in hooded style. The ends hang either in parallel or diagonal pattern, giving it a diamond shape when worn.
They are popular because of their versatility. It’s said to cover everything and can be worn in any season with just the change of fabrics. The best part of this garment is that it’s worry-free, no bothering for the fitting, easiest to wear, a perfect travel item and can be worn over anything. Available in a variety of colors and prices making it affordable to all classes.
rnPonchos are usually warm but not too warm, with the lightweight layer it’s the best companion which is effortless to add or shed, depending on the changing temperature. They cover anything, wear it and no one will see that what’s underneath even if it’s your old wrinkled top.
Ponchos made a remarkable fashion comeback from their old rebellious image of the Vietnam era. They are simple, easy to wear. It appeals all aged females as it goes with everything, fitting is never an issue, it’s never tight and one size can be worn by many.
But wearing them well is the only trick necessary to bring out a statement look. If not mixed and matched properly, it may look bulky, so extra care must be taken to keep the bottom-wear minimal. They can be well combined with shorts, cropped pants or fitted jeans.
So choosing or designing a poncho though such a simplified garment, needs some practical consideration,
Mobility- It’s important to be cautious about the agility while tailoring, because a poorly made cape can restrict your arms. So for a long poncho keeping side slits are always preferable.
Proportions- Keeping too much fabric would make the look silly and at the same time dangerous, as the corners may come under your foot while climbing stairs. So the right proportions give the right comfort.
Ponchos are available in a variety of patters, colors, fabrics and sizes around the world. Buying them are easy because of their abundant availability in many garment stores, fashion boutiques and numerous online stores.
During the past few years, this trend has spread like a transmittable disease. Women around the sphere have craved for new and trendy forms of a wrap or shawl, a good-looking, light alternative of the heavy winter wears. This craving was justified by the comeback of ponchos which proved to be modishly warm. It made a woman look elegant and chic in appearance keeping her comfortable inside.
