Levitra (Bayer AG, GSK, andSP) also known as Vardenafil (INN) is a PDE5 inhibitor used for treating erectile dysfunction. LEVITRA is used to treat erectile dysfunction sometimes known as impotence in men. Erectile dysfunction is the inability to obtain and or maintain a hard erect penis for sexual activity. LEVITRA tablets contain the active ingredient vardenafil (present as vardenafil hydrochloride trihydrate) which belongs to a group of medicines called phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors. These work by relaxing the blood vessels in the penis when you are sexually aroused. This allows blood to flow into the penis, allowing you to get an erection in the natural way.

Levitra is an FDA-approved oral prescription medication for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. Levitra is taken only when needed. It works along with sexual stimulation to help achieve an erection when taken 30 to 60 minutes before sexual activity. Levitra is effective for most men. Levitra is a new generation anti-impotence pill that works wonder for Erectile Dysfunction (ED) problems by targeting a key enzyme that controls blood flow to the penis. It has many advantages over its predecessor Viagra. Men find that because it works for up to ten or twelve hours that they are not caught in some time frame restriction and things can go on a more natural path. Levitra also is not affected by eating like other medications of this type. Levitra relaxes muscles and increases blood flow to particular areas of the body. Levitra is used to treat erectile dysfunction (impotence).Levitra may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.

Vardenafil, as with all PDE5 inhibitors, should not be used by men taking nitrate medications, because combining them with vardenafil might provoke potentially life-threatening hypotension (low blood pressure). The common, adverse drug reactions (side-effects) are the same as with other PDE5 inhibitors. The frequent vardenafil-specific side-effect is nausea; the infrequent side-effects are: abdominal pain, back pain, photosensitivity, abnormal vision, eye pain, facial oedema, hypotension, palpitation, tachycardia, arthralgia, myalgia, rash, itch, and priapism (Rossi, 2004). LEVITRA does not help you get an erection, or if your erection does not last long enough to complete sexual intercourse, tell your doctor.

In these cases, your doctor may need to adjust your dose. Be careful driving or operating machinery until you know how LEVITRA affects you. LEVITRA tablets may cause dizziness or faintness in some patients. The ability to drive and/or operate machinery may be impaired. If you drink alcohol, dizziness or faintness may be worse. These are the more common side effects of LEVITRA. They are usually mild and short-lived. Very rarely, your erection may persist for longer than usual. If your erection continues for longer than four hours, or if you have a painful erection, you should seek medical attention. If your doctor tells you to stop taking LEVITRA tablets or the tablets have passed their expiry date, ask your pharmacist what to do with any that are left over.
