Malaria is a potentially fatal tropical disease that's caused by a parasite known as Plasmodium. It's spread through the bite of an infected female mosquito. Malaria is a tropical disease spread by night-biting mosquitoes. When a mosquito infected with malaria parasites (plasmodia) bites you, it injects the parasites into your body. The symptoms characteristic of malaria include flulike illness with fever, chills, muscle aches, and headache. Some patients develop nausea, vomiting, cough, and diarrhea. Cycles of chills, fever, and sweating that repeat every one, two, or three days are typical. There can sometimes be vomiting, diarrhea, coughing, and yellowing (jaundice) of the skin and whites of the eyes due to destruction of red blood cells and liver cells.

Anti-malarial drugs can be prescribed to people traveling to areas where malaria is prevalent. Quinine sulphate is a prescription medicine used for the treatment of malaria. Quinine Sulfate (Qualaquin)is an antimalarial agent used to treat malaria. Quinine Sulfate may also be used to treat leg cramps. It prevents the development of malaria parasites in the blood. Precaution before taking Quinine sulphate

1) Quinine sulphate should not be used if a person is allergic to it or to its ingredient.
2) Immediate medical help should be taken if there is skin rash or any other severe allergic reaction.
3) This medication should not be used by the patients who are suffering from Heart disease, kidney disease.
4) Patients taking this medicine should avoid alcoholic drinks.
5) This medication should be used cautiously by elder people.
6) Pregnant and breastfeeding mother should avoid taking this medicine as use of this medicine may harm the health of unbo
baby or nursed child.

Drug interactio

Quinine sulphate medicine should not be used with combination of other medicines as it may cause serious drug interaction. It should not be used with combination of medicines like Flecainider
Sotalol,droperidol, ibutilide, bepridil, dofetilide, ziprasidone, cisapride, arbutamine, astemizole, pimozide, halofantrine, penicillamine or mefloquine as it may cause drug interaction.

How to take Quinine sulphate

You should inform your doctor if you are taking any prescription, non prescription and herbal medicine to avoid anu serious side effect. Take this medicine as prescribed by the doctor. Quinine Sulphate medicine should be taken with a glass of water. It should be taken with food to avoid stomach upset. The dosage should not be exceeded or lessened without the doctor's recommendation. The use of the drug should not be stopped on your own. Keep all medicines away from the reach of children and pet.
