Pressure Washers For School Maintenance

Pressure washers have many advantages over the traditional brush and bucket of soapy water and cleaning contractors are becoming more and more inclined to choose these advanced cleaning machines in order to keep classrooms, playrooms and cafeterias hygienic and safe for children. The following are some points to consider when looking to clean schools with the use of a pressure washer:
- For an environment in which it is crucial to eliminate germs and bacteria, it is essential that cleaning contracts use hot water pressure washers. Hot water machines dissolve dirt and stains much quicker than cold water versions and the additional heat acts as a sanitizer, which penetrates deep into the surface and reduces the amount of germs and bacteria.
- Additionally, hot water machines operate faster and more efficiently than cold water units. This is particularly important considering the vast size of most schools. Due to the robust build quality and high performance of hot water units, they ensure that jobs can be completed quicker without the loss of quality.
- Cafeterias and school bathrooms are a haven for soap scum, calcium deposits and similar marks. These stubborn and sticky stains, however, can easily be removed by using a high pressure level. A pressure washing machine with a pressure level of around 500 to 2,000 psi is more than suitable for this application. Anything thing over 2,000 psi could lead to structural damage, particularly when cleaning loose masonry.
- Most pressure washing machines come equipped with a variety of nozzles and accessories. The nozzles, particularly the fan-type nozzles, are ideal for applications that require a concentrated blast of power, such as removing graffiti or chewing gum.
- Mixing chemicals or detergents in the solution is not recommended due to the potential health hazards for children. Regular use of detergents often leaves behind a toxic residue, which is not only harmful to children and teachers, but also attracts more dirt. Simply adjusting the pressure levels on the pressure washers will effectively clean school facilities to keep the environment safe and clean for the students and teachers.
Both school cleaning staff and hired contractors will need to consider how their pressure washing equipment will be powered. Although fuel-powered diesel and petrol pressure washers come without the limitations of extension cords, without a truck mount setup, fuel-powered units are quite heavy, which makes transporting them around a real issue. They are also extremely loud and, due to burning fuel, also generate carbon monoxide gas, which in a poorly ventilated area, can be quite dangerous. Electric pressure washers on the other hand produce no emissions, work almost silently and are significantly lighter. School maintenance is an essential task so make sure you choose the right pressure washer.
