Prominent Attractions to Visit in Goa

Goa is the most visited holiday destination in India. People from all over the earth come to visit Goa. Goa is a small state in India known for its majestic beaches, Churches, temples, historic monuments and also Wildlife Sanctuaries. Most important of all is its glorious scenic natural beauty which draws thousands of tourists to the graceful state. The state is full of tourist attractions and one need to plan carefully so that one does not miss to see the important ones.
The beaches of Goa are the major tourist attraction in the city. There are numerous beaches in Goa but some of the significant ones are Calangute beach, the Baga beach, Anjuna beach, Dona Paula beach, Colva beach, Agonda beach and Miramar beach. The beaches are divided into northern and southern part of Goa depending on their location. The Anjuna beach is the most stunning and popular and it is located towards the northern part of Goa. The beach is well admired because of its economical accommodation and food that one will find near the beach. Moreover the late night parties are quite trendy on the beach and one can also enjoy the taste of delicious Goan cuisine in the restaurants near the beach. Other activities enjoyed on the beach are parasailing, scuba diving, swimming, fishing, motor scooter and skiing.
The Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary is the most thrilling wildlife sanctuary in the State situated in the village of Molem. The Sanctuary has an area of about 240 kilometers. It is one of the largest secluded regions in the state. It also covers Molem National park which has an area of about 107 kilometers. The animals found in the National Park are deer, jungle cats and Malayan giant squirrels. There is resort inside the Sanctuary by the name of Goa Tourism Development Corporation where one can stay during visit to the National Park. The Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary is also very eminent in Goa. The sanctuary is open for the whole area but it is mostly visited from October to March. One can see the entire Bird Sanctuary in just one day has it has a small area.
The overwhelming Carnival of Goa is celebrated in the month of March and is a symbol of vibrant colors, love and enjoyment. It is generally celebrated to greet the much awaited spring season. The local people are in festive mood, they have huge feasts and drinks during the whole Carnival. The Carnival is a sight of merry making and utmost amusement and gratification. One should taste the local alcoholic beverage Feni which is made of cashew nuts.
The Dudhsagar falls in the state are said to be the second highest in the country. The view of the splendid falls is just breathtaking. One should visit the falls during monsoon season when the beauty of the falls is much more enhanced. The Churches in Goa is the second major tourist attraction in the state after beaches. The major Churches in the state are Se Cathedral in Old Goa is the biggest of all, Basilica of Bom Jesus and Church of St. Francis of Assisi are worth visiting.
