Some people are simply addicted to tanning. They think that tanning adds great value to their personality. Some choose tanning as they think it makes them look prettier while other admit that tanning makes them look much younger. The reason tanning is so popular is that it can help in hiding the skin imperfections like acne, discolorations or sometimes even body hair. If you have a pale skin, such imperfections are much more visible than on a golden brown skin. Sometimes women are looking for a tanned body because they want to wear a particular shade of color that only looks good on darker skin tones. Also, some people believe that a slight tan makes them look healthier, pale skin has long been associated with the side-effects of getting sick. It is also believed that a tan makes you look much slimmer. But sun tanning has many risks associated with it, besides the mild sun burns, it can also be responsible for giving you a skin cancer. Both the celebrities and the normal people are looking for a less harmful alternative. Sunless tanning is becoming more common because of various advantages it has over the more traditional way of getting a healthy bronzed skin for the summer. Sunless tanning can be done by various methods including lotions, sprays, tanning lamps, pills and tanning beds. Now, let us understand first how the process of sunless tanning works. The most vital constituent of all sunless tanning products is DiHydroxyAcetone or simply, DHA. DHA creates the effect of making the skin look tanned by reacting with the dead skin cells on the outer layer of your skin and making the proteins in those dead cells brown. As the dead cells from your skin fell off, the tanning effect also fades away in about a week’s time. The government regulatory authorities have declared the use of DHA on the skin safe. So if you are looking for a harmless sunless tanning solution, look for a tanning spray containing DHA. It has been around since 1960s, but as the world has progressed, companies have found ways to make it more effective and much safer to the skin. But most of the self-tanning sprays do not have an incorporated sun screen, so you have to remember to protect yourself from the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun by wearing a strong sunscreen lotion before going out.
