What are Pulse Induction metal detectors (PI) and how can they help in your metal detecting hunting?
Pulse induction means that you are creating an electromagnetic pulse that exits the coil, bounces off a target, then returns to the coil giving a report on the target it hit.
Pulse induction detectors are usually more sensitive to smaller and deeper targets. The down side is they also pick up more trash targets and have a difficult time telling good targets apart from bad targets.

In conclusion, a pulse detection metal detector is probably not going to be a primary detector but it can serve as a very powerful specialized tool if you are in high mineral areas, salt or fresh water or looking at deep levels. A PI detector does require a major shift in usage compared to a traditional detector so you may want to seek guidance from a local shop before spending a lot of money on a unit to later find out it is too finicky for you to use. Also, these detectors can be found inexpensively as people get frustrated in using them. Don’t let this scare you. It just takes some practice and becoming accustomed to adjusting the sensitivity settings to the area you are detecting in.
