Helping others and doing things that can help them in their daily lives is one of the best things one can do with their spare time. By helping others, you are being kind and caring, and generally a good person. You will feel good about yourself, in that you have helped others, along with benefitting Children’s Charities with any donations or money you have raised with your good work. You can help your community with a whole host of caring activities.
Examples of caring activities include:
1.Accompanying an older person on a walk – This activity is a two-fold help; firstly, it will help the older person by giving them a companion to walk with, making the walk more fun and enjoyable, as well as being an incentive to go on the walk where otherwise they may simply not bother. Secondly, it will ease their mind, as they may be less likely to walk if there is no one accompanying them, as they may feel that they are risking a slip or fall, and having someone there to help if that does happen can be a great ease on their mind.
2.Charity Volunteer Work – This can include helping out with a bingo day, helping call numbers or handing out cards to be marked, or helping with sales on a cake stall or similar, helping to sell cakes and raise money for the charity.
3.Walking a dog for someone who is unable to go out that day – Walking someone’s dog for them can be a great help. Dogs need to be walked every day, and can become bored if they aren’t walked regularly, as well as becoming unfit and overweight. This will put stress on the owner to walk the dog even when they are unable to through injury, illness or when they have a tight schedule. If you offer to walk their dog for them, you can help them out greatly and ease their mind. Additionally, you are helping the dog itself, and improving your own fitness as you do so.
4.Tending to plants for an older person – Older people often enjoy gardening, either in their garden or as houseplants in a conservatory. They may however find it hard to bend or stretch to tend to the plants, so you can help them by reaching and tending to their plants for them. This will make their garden or conservatory appear neater and more healthy, making the older person happy and content that they have a presentable garden.
5.Throwing the rubbish out for someone who needs it – Rubbish bags can get heavy and cumbersome, so it is a great help to those who are unable to carry them if you assist them by taking their rubbish out of their house for them.
