It isn’t just about the amount you consume but also the type of fat you are eating. We have been made to believe that all fats are unhealthy but in fact there are still good fats out there like Omega 3 and Omega 6 that are needed to keep our heart healthy and several others that are essential for our physical and emotional health.

Here are some reasons that might motivate you to eat healthy Fats:

Lower the risk of heart attacks and raise the level of your good cholesterol

Good fats like Omega 3 and Omega 6 are needed to help reduce the bad LDL (Low-density lipoprotein) that causes blood clots and heart attacks – when good increases, the bad decreases! Omega 3 and Omega 6 can be found in foods like olives, nuts seeds, Lean meats and poultry, eggs and whole grass-fed butter spreads.

Easily control on eating and thus your weight

Fat slows down digestion so you’ll feel full for much longer and prevents overeating. How can this happen? By adding some fat to your meal, you slow down the breakdown of carbohydrates, and increase your fat burning potential.

Get more vitamins into your system

Vitamins like A, D, E and K need fats so they can be digested by the body and transported to several areas that need them. These fat soluble vitamins are needed to maintain good health but also bad in excess. The body only needs small doses of these vitamins as storing them in the body in long periods of time can be toxic.

Bump those muscles more!

Study show that fats influence testosterone level, which is a powerful muscle building hormone. However, you still need to be careful on what type of fat to consume. It is shown that monounsaturated fat is the one that increased testosterone levels the most.

Helps you lose fat. Really!

Some may find this too contradicting but the truth is if the body gets consistent amount of fats that it needs to function then it would stop looking for more. You can view it same as a camel. A camel can go for months without drinking water but when it does drink, it usually takes gallons to fill them up. Or it’s the same as when you haven’t eaten for several days and when you do, you would tend to eat a lot not minding the amount. You have already consumed a ton of food by this time but in the end you’ll either cough it up or get a stomachache. Fats help you control your portioning making you feel fuller longer while giving you energy for longer durations of time.

In conclusion, you may believe it or not but fat is one of our main sources of energy. Without this, our body would not function well and instead of being healthy, we might get sick or develop disease. We need to always remember that everything should be taken into consideration when modifying diets in any way. However, when modifying your diet fat intake can be a vital life source of long lasting youth and vitality for anyone.
