Red Light Therapy Boosts Collagen Production!
Written by Victoria Girard
Collagen is the foundation for healthy skin. It is a protein that gives skin strength, resilience, and durability. Elastin is actually a type of collagen that gives the skin the ability to stretch and bounce back, elasticity. Collagen and elastin are produced by a special cell called the fibroblast, so it is very important to energize the fibroblasts so that you can boost your collagen production.
As you age the production of collagen slows down and begins to degrade. It is also damaged by stress, lack of sleep, poor diet, and free radical attacks which cause oxidation. Collagen can become brittle and break over time causing lines, wrinkles, creases, and sagging skin. Because collagen is so crucial to healthy skin, when it begins to experience degradation and production slows down you will notice the effects in the appearance of your skin. Young skin has a strong production of collagen so in order to attain younger looking skin you need to drastically increase collagen production.
By increasing the production of collagen your skin will look younger, more supple and more vibrant. Healthy collagen production is necessary in the quest for beautiful skin.
Red light therapy (LED light therapy) actually penetrates deep within the layers of the skin and energizes the cells, stimulates collagen and elastin production, and gives your skin a youthful appearance. The combination of red and infrared LED’s have been proven to diminish fine lines, creases, furrows, crow’s feet, and much more.
Research has shown that some skin cells grow 150-200 percent faster when exposed to certain LED light wavelengths. These wavelengths increase the energy within the cells and speed up the healing and reparative process. Red light wavelengths from 630-660nm and infrared wavelengths at 880nm are able to penetrate tissue and are extremely beneficial in treating problems such as:
Fine linesr
Wrinklesr
Crow’s feetr
Uneven skin toner
Large poresr
Helps in healing blemishesr
Sun-damaged skinr
Skin coarsenessr
Redness, flushing, and dilated capillaries
Skin layers, because of their high content of blood and water, absorb light very easily and readily and can then deliver the necessary energy to stimulate healing and the production of collagen.
LED light therapy is painless, non-invasive, and has been proven to work on all skin types. By incorporating light therapy into your skin care routine you will gently increase the all important production of collagen and elastin and in turn gain much healthier and radiant skin.
