Motion sickness is a common discomfort that people experience when travelling. It has happened to me before and not just once, but several times. I actually went on a trip on a boat during a stormy weather. The winds were strong that it felt like I was riding on a big swing. It made me sick. I was feeling lightheaded and lost my appetite because everything I ate just went back up. There was also this time when I rode on an airplane. There was a slight turbulence inside the passenger's cabin but it still made me sick to my stomach. I vomited eventually. It would have been a disaster if I vomited on the floor. Lucky for me, I found the paper bag just in time. At both trips, I was able to experience discomfort, motion sickness that is.

Motion sickness may also be referred to as kinetosis or travel sickness. This happens when your perception of motion is not in tune with your vestibular system's sense of movement. The vestibular system gives us a sense of equilibrium. A person having motion sickness typically feels dizzy, worn out and queasy. When one feels nauseous due to motion sickness, there is the feeling of an unsettled stomach and as a result will throw up naturally.

Relieving motion sickness comes in many ways. It can be done by modifying your activities during the travel. Travelling by land can cause motion sickness for some, but a simple gaze at the front can ease that feeling. Your inner sense of balance gets to be confirmed by the affirmation of that motion through your visual sense. Someone who is travelling by boat may choose to take a nap during the trip as it can lessen the effects of motion sickness. With the modifications of some of our actions, there are still instances that can't be helped thus we still feel the motion sickness.

There are people who take medicines for motion sickness. Motion sickness medications can be availed without any prescription or if you prefer, you can have your doctor prescribe you with one.
