Marisela was feeling taxed – stretched to her limits.

When they repeated the test, everyone’s heart rate and blood pressure increased, as expected. However, without exception, the group that had taken eleuthero showed a 40% reduction in heart rate increase. The women who took eleuthero also showed a 60% reduction in systolic blood pressure increase.

Their hearts still reacted to stress. But not as dramatically as before they had taken eleuthero.

This is significant. On the outside, people like Marisela, who try eleuthero are amazed at how much better they weather tough times with this special root. But now we know that this is not just a matter of perception. On the inside, eleuthero seems to help your body adjust to stress better.

Some researchers speculate that eleuthero’s special molecules, called eleutherosides, mimic stress hormones, taking a burden off your body to produce these resource-intensive chemicals when you’re under the gun.

Exercising regularly is one of the best ways to help your body release the physical effects of stress while at the same time increasing your threshold and tolerance of stress. Meditation, taking a walk, listening to music can also help your body calm down.

3. Nourish your body and get your rest. These are the basics but they never fail to factor into how you get through a tough day. Eat good food. And make sure your body gets the recharging sleep you need.

4. Try adding some eleuthero to your day. Taken as a tablet or as a tea, eleuthero offers a healthy, safe way to bolster your body when stress calls. And – just so you don’t have one more thing to worry about - eleuthero can be safely taken over the long term.

I’ve used these four anti-stress allies over and over again when I’ve hit challenges. And over and over again, they’ve served me well.

Sure, try to reduce the areas of stress in your life. But bottom line, don’t get stressed out over stress itself. Remind yourself you have the capacity to handle this. And then do what you need to overcome the challenge and come out strong on the other side.
