While standard romantic relationship advice recommends things like giving flowers and candy, wearing special perfume or even feathers, dancing on a date, etc. - those represent only extra efforts, like new icing on an old cake. But the cake itself may be spoiled!

What spoils a marriage are the build-up of blockages to romantic flow. What follows is romantic relationship advice in the form of a four-week program aimed at releasing those blockages. As you do the inner work that is described, you will feel increasingly free to feel and express your romantic appreciation of your partner.
Relationship Advice For Romance: Week 1

Resentment consumes romantic feelings, but it is not your partner that causes you to feel resentment. How we think determines how we feel. Therefore, this week, be alert to notice and reject any thoughts about your mate that cause you to feel resentment.
Relationship Advice For Romance: Week 2

Feeling disappointed by your marriage blocks feelings of romance like a dam holding back a river. And yet, how you feel about the relationship is not based on the relationship, but on how you think about the relationship. Your relationship advice for this week, therefore, is to be on the alert to notice and reject any thoughts of your marriage that cause you to feel disappointed.
Relationship Advice For Romance: Week 3

Refuse to push yourself too hard in daily living, because when you drive yourself too hard, you harden your heart. Ease up, slow down and look for relaxed ways to do what must be done.
Relationship Advice For Romance: Week 4

This may be the most challenging and powerful romantic relationship advice of all. Accept feelings of insecurity about your mate, but don't interpret those feelings to mean that your mate is untrustworthy. Such feelings are natural components of desire. Let them fuel the fire of your attraction. There is always an element of danger in a romantic relationship because it involves emotional vulnerability.

After following this romantic relationship advice for four weeks, you can expect to feel more emotionally liberated and freer to risk romantic engagement. The final piece of romantic relationship advice presented here is this: repeat the four-week cycle of self-work over and over, until your heart completely opens.

The early development of avoidant attachment creates a coping mechanism that forms in childhood. Disconnected parent-child interactions typically trigger this condition. People who develop this attachment style learn to depend on their resources. They avoid deep emotional connections. The idea of making yourself more desirable by making yourself less available doesn't make a lot of sense when you think about it. After all, Juliet would have plunged a premature dagger into the heart of her romance with Romeo if she hid in her room rather than go out on her balcony. The end of Sleepless in Seattle shifts from "awww" to "aw, no" if one of the two main characters skips the trip to the Empire State Building. As these examples from fiction show, making yourself
