Rotary versus Foil Shaver

Rotary shavers have got three heads of blades that move in a circular motion, opposed to the single strips of blades like the manual shavers. Foil shavers have are more similar design to manual razors - single blades of metal covered by a thin layer of foil which vibrate (like the design to the right).

Compared to a shave with a razor, the electrical shavers win by far when it comes to convenience and time. It is so much easier to just pick up the electrical shaver, switch it on and get the work done, compared to preparing the razor, foam and water and slowly working your way across your face and chin. Generally, electric shavers are a lot safer than manual razors, so this means a zero percent chance of cuts and nicks and also means they are more suitable for men with sensitive skin. You don't need any gel or water with electric shavers - reducing the cost of running them and increasing efficiency even more and some razors can even clean themselves! Electric shavers are also a very appealing gadget for all men to have.

Rotary Shavers

These shavers a lot easier to use for guys with defined jawlines and had to reach areas on the face making them easier to use than foil shavers - a massive advantage to many men; this is becuase of the mobility of the heads, I believe that this shaver is easier to use than a foil. Rotary shavers are quieter than foil shavers making them less of a nuisance - they also have a longer battery life than foil shavers (but that depends on the shaver). Rotary blades last longer compared to foil and cause less irritation than foil shavers. Do you prefer to go longer in between shaves? This is more suitable shaver for cutting longer hairs. Rotary have also been said to cause less irritation to the skin, but this results in a less closer shave.

These types of shavers do generally cut a closer shave than rotary shavers and can be more efficient than rotary depending on the style. They may also give a more even shave, they are less likely to leave missed patches of facial hair

It all depends on personal preference, there isn't a 'best' option. Some men prefer foil and some prefer rotary - they do the same job but in a different way.
