Rules for A Happy Marriage
Written by John Phillips
My wife and I have traveled around the world several times in the last couple of years. We are always looking for unique and low cost souvenirs to remind of our trips. Recently we discovered a souvenir plate in a little shop in Manila, Philippines with the Rules for a happy marriage. Unfortunatly there was no author credited for these great words of advice. So I present this to you as we found it.
RULES FOR A HAPPY MARRIAGE
Never both be angry at the same time.
Never yell at each other unless the house is on fire.
If one of you has to win an argument, let it be your mate.
If you have to criticize, do it lovingly.
Never bring up mistakes in the past.
Neglect the whole world rather than each other.
Never go to sleep with an argument unsettled.
At least once everyday try to say one kind or complimentary word.
When you have done something wrong, be ready to admit it.
It takes two to make a quarrel and the one in the wrong is the one who does most of the talking.
My wife and I have put these words into action and I am sure if you do the same, you will see improvements in your marriage. These simple rules are truly words to live by.
