Have you ever thought about the fact that even a simple piece of cloth in your wardrobe can build up a consistent part of our traditional history? Sarees have always played an important role in defining the traditional culture of our country. These have now become one of the most important clothing.

Sarees have been carried not only from years but they have descended from centuries. What would you say about a tradition that has been carried for over 500 years now? A tradition that has been mentioned in the Vedas that is dated some 3000 years back. A tradition that has seen weathers come and go that have witnessed years and the legacies that have come and gone. Whether it may be festivals, movies, weddings or prayers...or just daily routine....things have changed from time to time...even beliefs and values...but what has not changed is sarees. They have seen the construction of the Indian tradition.

Year after years a saree has changed forms but the uniqueness and the identity of their being the dress of India has stood consistent in its place. A saree initially was worn by both men and women but with the evolution of mankind and the path to sophistication and the elegance of draping this 6 meter long piece of cloth confined it to women only. Sarees have now become specific from region to region. Some call it kanchipuram sarees and some call it banarasi sarees, some people call it cotton and the others just call it a saree. Whatever its type may be a saree has made a position in the heart of Indians.

A saree was initially made from woven in silk or cotton. They have been always famous for the silk more. With years many other designer apparels came into existence. These took the attire to another level as they now have grab on the market for sarees. You can now find sarees being made of poly-silk, cotton, chiffon, rayon and many more polyester fabrics that have some or the other quality to impart a perfect look to the saree. The usual plain saree is now captured by the shimmers and the glitters that make it look alive. The usual block print is now replaced by fancy floral designs or prints that can charm anyone. A saree now has much more variety than it initially thought it can offer.

A saree has evolved from being simple day to day use attire to something that is now much more general. It is now seen as the first pick by the females not just for the daily use but for the most important occasions in life. Whether it may be a wedding or an award ceremony, you can find even celebs draped in sarees on the red carpet. These have now become the essence of our tradition.

These have now become a part and parcel of our lives and not only adored by Indian women sarees have found their path internationally as well. These are now recognized world-wide and females over the world love to wrap themselves in this beautiful piece of unstitched fabric that apart from being simple makes you outshine in the crowd.
