Written by Tarjinder S. Kailey
Unless, you've been cohabiting under a rock for the last decade, you have come across SEO. You probably have heard about the acronym from a colleague or from the media. Most people have a vague idea of what it is. They know that the SEO is connected with the internet in some intricate way.
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization.
The best way to explai
Search Engine Optimization is by illustration. One of the most useful features of the internet is its being a source of information for almost anything. For example, you are in the initial stages of your wedding preparation. You are mulling over the perfect bride's gown. You turn on your laptop or desktop and use a search engine, Google or yahoo, among others. After typing in your keyword, WEDDING GOWNS, a list of wedding sites appear on your screen. You click first site on the list. After perusing over the site's creations, you move on the second site on the list then so on. You would pore over the sites in the first and second page of Google or yahoo for example then end your internet research. You probably have a good idea of what kind of dress you want on your special day. You have finally figured out the kind of cut and fabric you want for your white gown or you already know the professional designer who is going to sketch your bridal dress.
Now, all the designers, couturiers, small businesses and companies designing, making and selling bridal wear want their sites to rank first but if not in the lead, at least found in the first or second page results produced by search engines. They know that if their sites are found in the said two pages, interested users are more likely to visit their site and buy their dresses.
There are thousands of wedding designers all over the world who market their products online. They all compete for a spot in the first two pages of the listing. For their sites to rank high, they use a process called Search Engine Optimization. It is a method of making a website easily available to the internet users with the help of search engines.
A couple of ways to make your site easily visible to search engine listings are keyword density, submitting your website to search engines and backlinking.
