Selecting An IPhone App Developer
Written by Jimmy Hambrick
There are thousands of IPhone apps, and app developer advertisements seem to be everywhere. How do you choose a professional who will take your idea from concept to reality? Just as with any business decision, research is the key to finding a good match. Don’t leave your IPhone app developer decision up to chance. Ask yourself the questions below before you sign upon a dotted line, and you will likely be happy with your choice.
Before selecting an IPhone app developer for your project, ask:
- How qualified is this person for my project? Obviously, you will not want to hire someone who has never developed an IPhone app before. However, don’t immediately forego learning more about a person just because they do not have an impressive client list. They may have a portfolio of projects that closely mimic yours. Therefore, ask both about their experience developing applications like the one you are hoping to bring to fruition and about their satisfied clientele. It won’t hurt to surf some of the applications that they are credited with developing in order to decide if you like the developer’s style.
- Are people happy with the results they have seen from their IPhone app developer? Ask for a referral list, and call the people on it. Don’t just ask whether they are satisfied. Ask for particulars – what about working with the developer did they like? Would they change anything?
- How will the developer help you market your app? If you are embarking the app development journey because you believe that you have a marketable app that is going to take the world by storm, you are going to need a team that can make sure the world knows that your app exists. However, if your intention is to develop an app to streamline your business processes or you would like to see your application come to life ‘just because,’ you are likely not going to care whether the developer has advertising experience.
- What will the timeline be once app development begins? Be honest with yourself – if you need your application to be completed quickly, share that with the developer you choose. Ask whether they are comfortable working on such a timeline. During the process, don’t sit back and wait to be shown a prototype; instead, ask for periodic updates and ensure the application is shaping up the way it expected.
