Putting together the team for a new project is one of the most essential parts of the process. Sure, selecting what changes need to be made is important, but the team is just as important. Everyone knows that making a change takes more than just the one person; it takes a lot of people and a great deal of effort.

Not only do you need the individuals coming up with the ideas, presenting the ideas to the higher ups and convincing the individuals that the changes will affect of their importance, but you have the team behind the implementation. You need men and women that are willing to think outside the box and people that have ideas that aren't the same ones that keep getting passed around. That's why it is always important to get individuals from outside the regular sphere of influence.

You need people that might not be directly involved with the process, people that are new to the processes and haven't seen them being done the same old way for years on end. Then again, you need those people as well. You need people that are close to the situation that can give you insights and thoughts that people from the outside might not be able to see or know to even look for.

But this is why you're putting together a team of more than just one. You're going to get different sets of eyes to look at the same problem, but they are going to look at it from different perspectives and different angles. In this way you'll get ideas that you might never have been able o come up on your own because everybody thinks and processes just a little differently. So this is why it is so important to get these perspectives from outside of the department and even new ideas from individuals that might not have even been around as long as others.

Sometimes people can bring in ideas from other areas and other places that might not have been associated with the new place that they are at now. Again, this might be a perfect time to get a perspective that isn't part of the company culture. Remember, sometimes when people have all been working together for a long time or been in the same place for a long time, they may not have the exposure to new ideas that a new person might have. That isn't a bad thing, it just means that sometimes good ideas come from the outside as well.
