Building up self-discipline and thinking positively is sometimes hard to do. We all need discipline in order to be successful with all the challenges and problems of daily life.

We should consider building up our self-discipline with positive thinking and self-talk. In order to be successful, we need to be strong and use our positive thinking skills to keep our self-discipline in control. We need to be in control of our lives in order to succeed in the world today.

If we are thinking negative things all the time like "this isn't going to work" or "if I hadn't done this it would never have been this way" we will not get the positive results we are looking for. We must be positive and say, "This is going to work" When we tell ourselves this aloud, it is like telling our brain positive things that it needs to hear in order to overcome the negative thoughts.

Self-discipline with positive thinking can help us to become the person we want to be by setting goals. We then need to write them down and then work hard towards them, at the same time thinking positive thoughts about the outcome telling ourselves that we can and will reach the goals and targets that we have set ourselves.

Then as we reach each goal, we should reward ourselves by doing something special. For instance if we have decided to stop smoking and set a date for doing so, like six months, than if we achieve that goal we could take a shopping trip to treat ourselves to that item we have wanted for some time. Positive thinking and self-talk is needed to manage our self-discipline. If we're positive that we want to lose weight, we need self-discipline to move from the table when we have had enough to eat. Self-discipline will tell us not to eat anymore; enough is enough.

We can change the way we think by putting some effort into the situation. We need to make a list of the changes we want to make and be positive when writing out our list we should use positive language and say; "I can lose that 10 pounds" or I will stop smoking."

We should keep telling ourselves aloud that we can and will do something and remain in control and reprogram our brain to think positive instead of negative. Taking control of our self-discipline with positive thinking will help us achieve all it is we want to achieve and at the same time will increase our self-esteem.

Being in control will also help us prevent diseases like heart and lung disease or cancer and generally stay healthier.
