***Senior Back to Work Advice â Going back to work after retirement
Written by David Couper, The Official Guide To Career Change
- Chances are you don’t want to return to the same stressful work environment you were in before. This means you need to know where to look for a job. Such places as department stores have plenty of jobs available for seniors. They are modest paying jobs with very little stress. You may not even have to work a full day. You can come on part time and sometimes you can work full time. Both positions are open.
- You will have to update your resume to reflect your years of past work. Chances are you will be quite respected for the job that you have done in the past. Make sure your resume reflects what skills make you qualify for the job you are applying for.
- And don’t be nervous at the interview. You should be rather relaxed because you are an elder individual who has put in a lot of time and you have a lot of life experience. Just be aware of some of the questions that are asked. For instance, “Where do you see yourself in 5 years” or “What makes you the best for this job?” nn
- And be persistent in your search. There are many companies that are making concessions for retirees wishing to return to work. Don’t hesitate to call a company and ask them what they have available for a retiree because the company may not always list the job on job sites or classifieds.
- You can also learn new skills if you need to. If you need to enroll in a vocational course or one at your local university, go for it. There are many computer jobs out there, so taking classes on computers could help you land one of those positions.
