Should Children Wear Only Branded Clothes
Written by Nitish Kumar
Clothes reflect the personality to a great extent and it shows the status of the family an individual belongs to, no matter if they are from an urban or middle class. More than eight decades ago clothes existed and everyone wore them day and night, from dawn to dusk. There wasn’t any brand at that time and the quality of clothes was also quite good. This doesn’t mean that branded clothes aren’t good, their quality is superb yet non-branded clothes cannot be sidelined from the picture. The shift in nature of understanding among children has been quite drastic through the ages.
Today, in the modern world, not only adults have morphed in their thinking but children too have changed their course of thinking from one level to another. They want flashy cars, expensive watches and clothes, best deodorants and perfumes and the list never ends. Luxury is good for everyone but its drawback is that it renders a person incapable of leaving it. This refers to the magnetism attached to branded objects which are found hanging in showrooms which are quite expensive too. Modernity has changed civilization to a large extent but people need to remember which is a better choice- is having all luxuries and remaining its slave better or living a life free of artificial burdens which creates stress.
Children often turn towards luxurious brands because of psychological reasons: first is image and the second is aesthetic taste. For children image is a stressful idea and the pain to maintain it makes a huge impact on their personality and behavior too. In psychological terms fear is the result of a virtual world they tend to live in and are happy in that world. Those with whom they interact and converse become the viewers of their personality and if found good get a lot of praise. Parents may find it quite a lame idea but it’s just the opposite, for children it doesn’t matter what parents think, rather they feel attracted towards the limelight and become blind towards their well-wishers.
When children are in the stage of growth aesthetic sense never seeps in their mind or even does not cross; to counter-attack their rivals in fashion children yearn to get all branded clothes and objects for which they aren’t even slightly mature. Often such an attitude comes in them as a hereditary character; such thinking exists in the elite class of the society who think of wearing non-branded clothes as a shame. Not all parents are rich enough to fulfill all their children’s needs. They also need to think about their economic condition and then decide as to what is best for them and their family.
Parents should make their children understand the importance of money and how to value it. Money is like water which flows away as soon as it comes in an individual’s hands. They need to learn the importance of values and understand the need of any given situation. Buying branded clothes once in awhile never hurts any parents’ hearts but constant shopping of luxurious brands pinches their pockets too. Youngsters should learn to save money rather than spending it on all their lavish ideas and fantasies. Children are the future generations of any country who need to be guided at every step until they can stand on their feet and take wise independent decisions which should benefit them and the ones related to them. Last but not the least parents and children should understand each other and respect the decisions made by elders because it always will be in their benefit.
