Signs - a Man is interested in you

Life was so much simpler in the past. Grandpa may have shown his interest in Grandma by dipping her pigtails in the inkwell, or clobbering her with the dodgeball at recess, or even chasing her around the playground with a frog. Dad and Mom were baby boomers; he may have raced his loud muscle car back and forth in front of her house. Or he faithfully watched American Bandstand to learn the latest dance moves to impress her at the sock hop. You can watch the neighbor boys playing football in front of the little neighbor girl and immediately tell which ones are most interested in her. It’s not so easy with grown men. Or is it?

Learning to read the signs a man is interested can be helpful. You can respond appropriately to either encourage or discourage his attention. You can “let him chase you until you catch him.”

One of the first things to watch is eye contact. At first, he will avoid eye contact. You’ll probably notice him watching you, but only when he thinks you aren’t looking. When he finally does make eye contact, you can encourage him with a quick smile and nod (This might be repeated several times before he feels confident enough to actually approach you).

His next step may be to try to get closer to you. He may approach your best friend and talk to her (while keeping a watchful eye on you.) He may seek out a mutual guy friend to ask about you. If you watch closely, you may even see him point you out to his buddy.
Watch the buddy’s response—a negative nod might scare him off. Or he may look for excuses to move closer to you, and listen intently to what you are saying to someone else.

He may make excuses to make small talk with you. Like asking if you know the time when there are three clocks in the room and he’s wearing a watch. If you’re at a party or another public place, he may tend to follow you around. .
You’ll notice that he often seems to pay more attention to his appearance when he’s around you. His hair will be freshly combed. You can smell his cologne from three feet away. The first few times he talks to you, he may seem fidgety or nervous.

Finally, the most powerful sign that a male is interested is common to the animal kingdom, the playground, and mature sophisticates. Like the peacock displaying his tail or the neighbor boys’ football displays, the modern man will show off and act competitive to get the attention of a potential mate.
