Skin Care And Men â No More A behind the door affair
Written by Claude Be ard
When it came to skin care for men most of it was limited to a good cold splash of water, some shaving and a good splash of the after shave. Things have undergone a sea change over time as men realize that just as they want women to look young and beautiful, women also aspire that men take that little extra care to look good.
This growing interest on the part of men to look good and invest in some worthwhile skin care has led to a flood of beauty products for men in the market. Skin care for men and women are pretty different but the procedure for caring remains more or less similar. The first thing to do away with is the soap; just as for women men too should avoid using harsh soaps on their face as it can rob the skin of its natural oil. The skin of men is oilier than women with bigger wider pores; this means that men are prone to accumulating impurities, dirt and grease from the atmosphere than women. Use a good quality face cleanser, preferably those designed for men to wash your face on a daily basis to cleanse the clogged pores and allowing it to breathe freely. The cleansers are milder than soaps and so do not rob the skin of its natural oils. .
Take care to choose the shaving cream and shaving lotions that suit your type of skin. Opt for products that are water based than alcohol based as the alcohol upon drying tends to stretch your skin out. The market is filled with various types of shaving razors too, while convenience of use is utmost try to keep an eye out for products that claim to reduce cuts and give a better smooth shave, some may be able to keep up their promises. .
We did say that the skin of men was oilier but we will still advise use of moisturizers. The reason for this is that regular shaving and washing dehydrates the skin making it look dull and limp, when you rub in the moisturizers you not only return some of the moisture back but the circular motion that you use to rub the skin invigorates the blood cells and improves blood circulation.
Sunscreen lotions and creams are also vital for a man’s skin care. Protecting the skin from the harsh effects of the sun’s UV radiation goes a long way in ensuring your skin remains looking younger and blemish free for longer time. A vital tip is to use upward stokes while applying any cream or moisturizer. This will help keep the skin firmer and the skin absorbs faster.
